Last night I had a nightmare that for some reason I sold my S2000. The rest of the dream was spent furiously searching cars.com and craigslist for my car in an attempt to buy it back. I have never been so happy to wake up. The sickness I felt in that dream reaffirms my decision to own this car. Here she is on pikes peak.

I feel your pain. I went over a year without a Corvette.
Also, my cousin has 2 S2000’s LOL

I am excited for these to come down in price (hopefully eventually). Would be great to have one as a track car. Not sure I could deal with the lack of torque for daily usage, although that would be kinda fun. I always wonder how different the s2k is to drive versus my own Miata.

Heh, I went to look at a first-gen MR2 once... it was kind of beat on, and I made the silly mistake of assuming that the car was insured & registered... so no test drive and no sale.
But then, the guy’s like, “I see you really know about MR2’s” and proceeds to show me his SECOND, nicer, factory-supercharged MR2 in a shed in the back. Kind of a half-crazy older guy, but I gotta give him credit for at least half-rescuing all the AW11’s in NJ.

LOL, that's a great story. That was my cousins plan(a keepsake and a driver), but then he end up with white CR as the driver.

As a daily it is a blast because you always feel like you are in a race car. I went from a Focus ST into this S2k and while the torque is nearly non existent at low RPMs the car begs to be downshifted even at highway speeds to just launch away. It really is a rocket. Its only .1 seconds fast to 60 than a focus ST at sea level and at altitude I am sure it is slower, but I stand firmly by the idea that the S2k feels exponentially faster than the ST. As for a price drop I am not sure I see that coming. I was really lucky and found an unmolested bone stock 2004 in the north woods of wisconsin. I spent well over a year car shopping (Nation wide) for a variety of vehicles including the S2k and nearly every example I came across was either incredibly high miles, in an accident, or modified in some way that you would not trust it. If you are trying to find a project you can get them cheap, if you want a well maintained stock example I wish you the best of luck, and only ask that you leave it that way once you have it. They are getting so scarce. I hope you find what you are looking for. As a daily driver it really is an amazing experience and far more comfortable than most would imagine.

It was the worst dream every, just frantically searching the internet for my car beating myself up inside for selling it in the first place. I just remember dreaming about punching myself in the head for being such an idiot and selling it. But this morning when I woke up and went into my parking garage and saw it parked there i just smiled knowing it means so much and is still there.

Oh yeah I would never mod a Honda lol. The S2k is perfect the way it is. I will gladly mod the shit out of my Miata instead. And yeah, it sounds like the s2k is really just going to appreciate in value at this point. Maybe I will consider a crashed out one since it would not be a daily and I enjoy a challenge.

Yeah I don’t get the feeling they will drop in price. They are getting to the integra type r and gsr stage where people are starting to realize a good example is getting hard to come by. You would be doing the world a service by saving one. If you can find it with a good engine and drivetrains there is no shortage of parts. The only mod I want to do is to swap out the tranny for the one from the supra

Its not that I do not like it. But there is major room for improvement considering how dialed in the rest of that car is. In the 2001-2003 models the clutch almost always buzzed, which was very hard to stop from happening even with a new clutch. The transmission in those models was also very easy to fuck up because the high rpms made it difficult for the tranny to keep up on the shifts (synchro problems) they corrected this in 04 which is what I have but there is still so much room for improvement. First gear will occasionally kick out (or not engage in the first place) which is found to happen on many of these cars. Its easily fixable by shifting to second then first gear and only really happens when shifting at a stop. And other little shit like that happens. But some gentleman and scholar build an adapter so that you can easily swap in the supra tranny (arguably the best transmission ever assembled). The problem with that tranny tho is that is is nearly 8k new which at this point is half the price of my car. Its one of those swaps that will happen closer to 150k miles (I’m sitting at 85k). From what I have been told the swap makes the car teuely perfect. Although I have a hard time imagining what an even better s2k would be like. They really are the most satisfying vehicle.

That's the Getrag Trans right? That does sound like a sweet swap as well as expensive. I would have said complicated too but that is awesome there is a well documented process for doing so.

Not only is it well documented there is a company that produces the specific adapter to the bell housing that you need to make it work allowing you to literally drop in the supra trans with no additional modification of the car. Its pretty awesome. I’d sell my right nut to get that transmission. Unfortunately my gf says I have to keep them both.
